OK, so EVERYBODY will have a tip on the Astronomical Clock. Nonetheless, you simply can't leave Prague without having seen it strike the hour between 9am and 9pm. Admittedly I'd heard so much about it that when I finally saw it, it was an anticlimax. However the clock is fabulous to look at because it's kept (like so much of Prague) in such good condition.

oh yes, what does it do? well, a little statue of Death (a skeleton) pulls a string to signal that it is Time To Go... and 3 other characters (including Vanity and Greed) shake their heads in panic. Also two little windows open at the top and the twelve apostles rotate past.

Worth checking out, but go in the morning if possible. Mid-afternoon is the busiest time - watch your bag!

Address: Starometska radnice, Starometske namesti.
Directions: Old Town Square
