Its a very glorious sight that also can be called "The Royal Palace". It is situated on the Castle hill at the side of Buda. It is one of the most importent sights in the whole city.
The foundations of the palace, which were built at the 13th century is the heart of Buda and from there Buda started to grow. Since then it was destroyed and rebuilt many times, Today the appearance of the Palace is in neo-Baroque has it was rebuilted in 1867. It consists today severy museums, among then the National Gallery and the Budapest Historical Museum.
The yard near the castle is beautiful with nice statues and small gardens, there is also a great view over Pest.

Address: Castle District (Varhegy), Buda
Can be reached by the Castle bus (Varbuz) from Moszkva ter or by the Gellert Funicular from Clark Adam ter near the Chain Bridge.
