Cairo holds the largest Souk al-Gamaal (Camel Market) in Egypt.

Most of the Camels are from Sudan, although they can be as from far away as Somalia. The Camels travel along the 40 day road, usually to Aswan, they are put in to trucks & then transported to Cairo for the last part of their journey.

Friday & Monday early mornings are the best times to visit the market.

Quite a strange site to see, a caravan of camels" gliding through the metropolis of the Cairo suburbs.

Address: Several to choose from in Cairo
Directions:

Near Imbaba Air Strip, West Cairo
