Without a doubt, the most spectacular beach on the east coast of Australia is Whitehaven Beach. It is located offshore in a group of islands called the Whitsunday Islands.

I enjoy my beaches, and made a point of seeing what were supposed to be the best beaches in Europe, Thailand, and Australia. I have to say that there was only one other beach that even came close to being in the same league as Whitehaven. That was Myrtos Beach in Kephalonia. While Whitehaven can't match the blue of the waters in Kephalonia, Myrtos doesn't even belong in the same breath as Whitehaven for the beauty and quality of the sand.

Both are otherworldly gorgeous, but if you gave me the chance to come back to one of them, I would chose Whitehaven. It just has to be seen in person, because no photo can capture its brilliance.
