"German Village..." Columbus Things to Do Tip by little_liebchen

Columbus Things to Do: 190 reviews and 446 photos

My favorite area in Columbus. This historic area is supposed to resemble a village in Germany. Well, I live in Germany now and it...doesn't, really. But it has its own unique flavor, which is what I love about it.

The streets are brick. There are beautiful houses, GREAT restaurants and shops, and the most unique bookstore you will find anywhere: The Book Loft. Schiller Park sits at one end, and they have free theatre in the summer (Shakespeare). Every fall, the people of German Village organize an Oktoberfest, which is a big event in Columbus.

It's a great neighborhood, and this is the one place that I recommend to people when they come to visit Columbus. If you just want to spend a day window shopping and eating some fantastic food, this is where you want to go.

Address: near downtown Columbus
Directions: Close to the Brewery district on the south side of High Street
