The columns curve in special ways to promote the overall effect of having the columns look straight. The base curves upwards and column tapers at the top.

There is a massive restoration in progress, in the hopes that the entire building will be strengthened against possibility of collapse. So, be prepared for large amounts of scaffolding and work crews when you visit.

A request for all those who read this!

Please give me your opinion on whether or not restoration of ancient ruins should be made. I am not asking for the sake of protecting them from collapsing, that is a given. I am talking about trying to restore some or all to their past glory or state.

I personally am for protecting things for future generations, but not to try and elaborate on what is there. (See Knossos)
