No visit to Athens would be complete without the Acropolis being visited. Meaning "High City", the Acropolis has been inhabited since the Broze Age (~500 BC). With its high situation above the surrounding plain, it is was an ideal spot to inhabit because it is easily defended. The buildings that remain for us to roam around today are from the Classical Period of 450-330 BC. These magnificent structures include, amongst others, the Parthenon and Erechtheion.

Admission: There is a combined ticket for all attractions that are a part of the Unification of Archaeological Sites. Whats cool is that the ticket and all of its attached stubs are valid for an entire week, so you don't have to rush through them; as long as you have the time to spend in Athens.

Opening hours: daily Apr.-Oct. 8-sunset
Nov.-Mar. 8-2:30.

Directions: City center
