Portugal Off The Beaten Path: 322 reviews and 400 photos

Seia is a beautiful town set at the foot of mainland Portugal's highest mountain, the Serra da Estrela.
Seia was captured from the Moors in 1057 and officially recognised as a municipality in 1136.
You can see on my picture the town's 18th-century Misericórdia church; if you are planning to drive up the mountain in winter you should check the notice board beside it, which indicates whether or not the mountain roads are passable.
I didn?t see much of this lovely town because I was just a few hours there.
