"River Crossings" Iceland Transportation Tip by backpack1974

Iceland Transportation: 163 reviews and 155 photos

On the smaller roads there may not be a bridge for river crossings. You have to ford it. Don't cross if it's too deep. Go somewhere else or come back another day. Losing your vehicle and/or endangering the people you're riding with isn't worth it. Also, it is a good idea to take more than one vehicle so you can pull each other out/have a safe haven if things go wrong. Parts of Iceland are very remote. This is gorgeous but also dangerous since help won't be readily available. Be smart. Okay, enough preaching. Get out there and have some fun.;-)
