The prisoners were given thin layers of clothes and were each assigned a different colored triangle badge with a number: Red meant you were a political prisoner; Jews wore a yellow star with a colored triangle denoting the reason of their arrest; Black was used for Gypsies and "antisocials;" Violet was used by the Jehovah Witnesses; Pink was used by the homosexuals; and green was used by the criminals. The prisoners clothes were rarely washed, thus it led to the outbreak of disease.
