Thy Thy: "Little Vietnam" THY THY Restaurant Tip by ElectroBlue

THY THY Restaurant, Melbourne: 4 reviews and 3 photos

Victoria Street, Richmond is a foodie's heaven. The strip between Hoddle and Church streets (and the surrounding area) could fairly be described as Little Vietnam. Restaurants serving good, cheap food jostle for space with the myriad Vietnamese supermarkets, where you can pick up exotic regional vegetables, fruits, and kitchen staples for when you want to create your own Vietnamese feast back home.

Amongst these restaurants is the famous Thy Thy (so famous in fact that they had to create a second branch to accommodate the hordes). Here you will find authentic Vietnamese food, served with a minimum of fuss, and at prices you won't believe. You can easily eat very well here for under a tenner. Pork and prawn rice paper rolls (4 for $4); spring rolls with iceberg lettuce and mint (8 for $4); and mains for around $5 - 6.

The decor isn't pretty but, in it's inimitable way, is quite charming, and for fantastic food at rock-bottom prices, it deserves at least one visit on your trip to Melbourne.

Favorite Dish: The pho is brilliant on a cold day; but I just can't say no to the rice paper rolls.
