"Need Your Sports fix?" Canada Sports & Outdoors Tip by CdnJane

Canada Sports & Outdoors: 35 reviews and 35 photos

I'm not a big sports fan, but I appreciate that many others are. When you're in Canada you may want to check out some of the sporting activities taking place. You could catch, depending upon the season, an ice hockey game, a baseball game, Canadian football, soccer (football elsewhere), basketball, horse-racing (either standardbred or thoroughbred racing), or some other sporting event. Your first bet is to check the local newspaper's sporting section for what is being played at home while you are there. If you are staying at a hotel, the concierge should be able to help you get tickets. Some excellent athletes can be found at the university or even high school meets, so if you really need your sports fix, don't rule those out!

Equipment: Well you need to take your enthousiasm, and a good yelling voice! If you're going to an outdoors game in the spring or fall, you may need a seat cushion, or a warm jacket. You can get a lot of "bench-warming equipment" at sporting goods stores, department stores and since you're in Canada... go to Canadian Tire (more than just tires). Oh, a rain coat or poncho might be suggested too. If you're outside, don't forget the sunscreen!

Directions: Professional/amateur sports venues, school playing fields... go where the sport should be played.
