The silver fern is the national Floral Emblem of New Zealand, but I'd never understood till now which ones they were.
There was some good basic signage on the walk which explained about the silver fern: to see it, you've simply to turn over the leaf (which I'm doing in the photo) and there it is.
Also said that laying silver fern leaves on a track in the dark is a good method of following a trail.
