"A Walkable Village" Port Jefferson Transportation Tip by BeverlyTyler
Port Jefferson Transportation: 2 reviews and 1 photos
Whether you drive into Port Jefferson or come by the ferry, walking is the best way to get around and to see Port Jefferson. If you come by car, park behind the stores on the west side of Main Street and forget your car for the rest of the day.
Main Street is the commercial part of Port Jefferson. Here you will find restaurants, coffee shops, the Gap, and many other modern stores interspersed with a few speciality shops.
On East Main Street you will find the heart of Old Port Jefferson. Here is the heart of the historic area with antique and craft shops, book store, library, and many speciality shops.
There are a number of crosswalks in Port Jefferson, however they are poorly marked and difficult for drivers to see so be careful crossing, especially Main Street at East Main.
