Cozumel, Mexico, located just off the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, is blanketed with tropical vegetation & underwater coral "forests" fringe the island.
Tropical fish in vibrant hues beckon divers & snorkelers alike.
The list of land/water excursions that were available was lenghthy. A Few:
1. Mayan Ruins of Tulum (8 hours)
2. Tropical Jeep Safari
3. Beach Snorkeling Adventure
4. Mayan Frontier Horseback Riding
5. Xcaret, Eco-Archaeological Park (8 hours)
6. Mexican Folk Show
7. Fiesta Party Boat
8. Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel & Beach
9. Atlantis Submarine
11.Cozumel Country Club for Golf
We have plans to visit ruins on our next stop; I have already done the Dolphin Encounter in Bahamas, so we decided to do the Atlantis Submarine.
This was a modern, air-conditioned submarine where we were able to sit in the pressure-controlled vessel, gaze through large portholes to see the colorful undersea world of fish & coral. There was a narrator who described & explained all the abundant inhabitants of CHANKANAAB, world famous coral reef.
This was an unforgettable experience which lasted for approximately two hours.
Photographs did not turn out. (Boo! Hiss!)
Duration: 2 hours
Afterward, we went into town because we had been given raffle tickets to turn in at certain stores.
Cozumel is known for its fine silver jewelry. We were given free diamond stud earrings & a sterling silver charm for a necklace. The one I chose was engraved with symbols from Mayan Ruins.
Both my sister & I purchased silver jewelry. I purchased a Silver braclet, ring, & necklace that matched. It had both onyx & jade.
Next, we went to a wonderful restaurant where we ate lunch. There was live music, delicious food, and lush vegetation as part of the decor. My sister tood the photo of me after a Margarita. Note: shopping bag at my feet.
After lunch, we shopped some more.
All-in-all, it was a delightful day.
Directions: Just off the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
