There are six zones in London. Zone 1 is for central London and Zone 6 is for greater London. How much you get charge for single/return tickets depends on which zone(s) you are going to. Click here for map.

It's quite confusing. So I'd advice you to get a One Day Travel Card. With this card, you can use the Tube and bus within London.

The price for One Day Travel Card varies depending on which zones you pick. For example, I always get One day travel card for Zone 1,2,3&4 because I live in Zone 4 and I work in Zone 1. I hardly go to Zone 5/6 you see. You must keep your travel card at all times.

The ticket will be expensive within Peak time (before 9:30am).
