The Old Royal Water Palace - Kertha Gosa

About 25kms to the east of Ubud through lush countryside is Semaraputra which was once known as Klungkung and was the centre of an important Balinese Kingdom.
Nowadays the town is justly famous for its impressive Water Palace with its centrepiece, the Kertha Gosa or Hall of Justice.
There is also a reasonably interesting museum and art gallery here.
Klungkung is best got to by your own transport, either rental or private tour as we did.
