"Charles Bridge over the river Vltava" Charles Bridge Tip by Eszter

Charles Bridge, Prague: 413 reviews and 765 photos

Charles Bridge was for over four hundred years the only link between the two halves of Prague.
The building of the bridge began in 1357 to replace an earlier structure that was swept away in 1342 by one of the Vltava's frequent floods. The work was finally completed in the early fifteenth century.
Since 1950, the bridge has been closed to vehicles, and is now one of the city's most familiar monuments.
