"To keep in mind..." Portugal Favorite Tip by SonOfLusus

Favorite thing: When planning a trip to Portugal keep in mind that although it is a small country, there are vast differences from province to province and that there is a variety of attractions and activities. In the country's small area you can do pretty much anything. If it's fun in the sun you want, head to the warm beaches of Algarve. If you want to explore the culture and history of the country, visit Lisbon, Sintra, Evora, Obidos, Tomar, Guimaraes, and Braga. If you are interested in religion, visit the world-famous sanctuary at Fatima, Bom Jesus near Braga, or explore the fascinating Jewish history at Belmonte and small towns in Alentejo. If you enjoy pristine locations with paradisiacal scenery, visit any of the islands of Azores or Madeira. If you are into wine-tasting and gastronomy, head to the north of the country and tour the magnificent vineyards of the Douro. Whatever you decide to do in Portugal, just remember that it is so much more than you'd expect and you don't really get to know the country until you get off the beaten path and experience some of its centuries-old traditions.
