"Alfama" Alfama Quarter Tip by andrea.d

Alfama Quarter, Lisbon: 67 reviews and 136 photos

Alfama is a very interesting district in Lisbon with lovely and narrow streets! Alfama survived the 1755 earthquake in Lisbon and thus conserves many traits of the Arab districts in the past. Inhabited since the middle ages by fisherman, craftsman and small traders, it later became the district of sailors and prostitutes (as I heard). Today it is living model of the poorer part of Lisbon.

Address: 1100-172 Alfama, Lisbon
Directions: Between Castelo de São Jorge & Rio Tejo.
