The magnificent Fort Area encompasses the area east of Khala Ghoda, north past Flora Fountai, reaching almost as far as Crawford Market, in the heart of the city.

This is an ideal place to continue a walk from Khala Ghoda, as it is filled with numerous Gothic, Indo-Saracenic and Victorian buildings. Some of the most noteworthy (and noticeable) are VT Station, the central garden of Horniman Circle, the Prince of Wales Museum (enter for a look at the best collection of miniature paintings in the country). . .and the remarkable General Post Office.

The reward of this area is enhanced by the fact that everyone here is so busy going about their own business, that you can dawdle, photograph, gawk and stare all you like. . .no one takes more than a passing interest.
