"Old Beijing" Hutongs - Bell and Drum Towers Tip by Yso

Hutongs - Bell and Drum Towers, Beijing: 95 reviews and 199 photos

All the guide books tell you to do it, so go for a wander around the Hutongs.

I was there in the spring festival, and it was very cold, so there wasn't a lot going on in the hutongs - most people were indoors! But it's interesting for a wander. Going north from Wanfujing you can walk through hutongs to the Bell and Gong towers. These towers are not as impressive as the ones in Xi'an for instance, but they're still worth seeing.

Directions: North of the forbidden city, or get the metro (circular line) to Andingmen
