There was a wagon train that blazed their own trail through the Willamette Valley in 1853 after a disagreement. It was tough going. The wagon train went through what is now Oakridge, Oregon which lies in the Willamette River Valley.

Driving up and over this mountain is a lovely scenic drive. Stop and see the Salt Creek Falls. This is one of the roads you can take to Crater Lake.
