Portugal Off The Beaten Path: 322 reviews and 400 photos

by micas_pt

Covilhã is a mountain city, with an interesting past in the fabrics' manufacture and woollen products. Strolling around this city you will came across some beautiful churches and a nice Town Hall, all located on the historic centre. Being a mountain city, the streets are not plain, so be prepared to walk up and down!! But the historical centre is small, so you may thoroughly visit this city in a day. The city is under a refurbishment program in order to make it architecturally more pleasant, as the growth of this city brought some ugly buildings in recent decades. Covilhã has a University and that is quite visible as you visit the city, as you will find numerous buildings that belong to University or students' accommodations.

For further information see my Covilhã page.
