The facade of the Sint-Carolus Borromeuskerk has designs by Rubens in it.
Standing on the Hendrik Consience plein it is realy dominating the square. The facade is designed to attracked the attention of passers by.

The facade was inspired by the facade of the Jesuschurch in Rome by Giacomo della Porta.
The facade is huge, it is 8 meters higher than the roof of the church. The facde measures 33,2 x 33,2 m.
The IHS in the middle is the shield of the order of the Jezuites. According to the Greek it are the first 3 letters of the name Jesus (IHO), the latin interpretation is: Jesus Hominum Salvator (Jesus, saver of the humankind). P.P. Rubens made the shieldand the angels holding it.
