Small towns generally show the face of Germany that a tourist wants to see. Their lack of economic or strategic importance saved them in many cases from the devastating bombings that ruined all the big cities in the last war. They now boast a rich architectural heritage and an old Europe atmosphere that the larger cities have lost in many cases.

Only a handful of these small towns get all the attention, leaving the rest at the entire disposal of the most inquisitive tourists.

I will progressively list below some of the German little towns that I have visited (in alphabetical order).
