  Parlours are a good thing
by jonkb

If you can read these pages you should get along just fine when speaking to most norwegians. Almost all of us speak english. Some of us though, might be reluctant to start a conversation in english. If you speak slowly and articulate you'll overcome most norwegians reluctance.

Norwegians has litlle, if any problem understanding swedish and danish eighter because the languages are quite similar to eachother.

Most norwegians has had at least a year with eighter french or german in school, but that doesn't mean that those languages are spoken without trouble. If you speak better french or german than english, I'd still recommend you to speak english first, and then try for the other languages.

Parlours are a good idea, even if your english is good. I've found the best parlours from Kunnskapsforlaget (see picture). Their website is listet below, but unfortunately the site is in norwegian only.
