"Windmill Museum" Gifhorn Things to Do Tip by Sjalen

Gifhorn Things to Do: 7 reviews and 14 photos

This is supposed to be the only museum of its kind. In any case it is impressing in a way which I didn't expect a windmill museum to be. I was there several years ago and even then you could visit the main building to learn about the history of milling and try bread, see some 20 windmills and so on. In later years it has grown to include many more windmills, especially foreign ones. There is also a Russian-Orthodox church and Russian cultural centre on the premises since the early 90s, though I am not sure of the connection to Gifhorn even though I know there are many Russians shopping in Wolfsburg these days.

The museum is closed from Christmas to mid March but otherwise open all days, just shorter days in winter.

Address: Bromer Straße 2
Directions: Towards Wolfsburg.
