Obidos is a lovely medieval village situated in District Leiria, about 80km from Lisbon. The village is surrounded by the castle's walls, to which you may go up and enjoy fantastic views over Obidos and over the surrounding meadows and hills. In the village you may visit beautiful churches and wander through its narrow cobbled streets. The houses are small, painted in white with yellow or blue stripes and with flowerpots hanging on the windows. It is a good choice for a daytrip from Lisbon. While visiting Obidos don't forget to taste ginjinha, a typical liquor made with a fruit called ginja (similar to cherry).
