"Boca and Caminito" Argentina Things to Do Tip by reon80

Argentina Things to Do: 447 reviews and 726 photos

Boca was the original center of Buenos Aires, home to all the immigrants that entered the city in waves at the beginning of the century. As such it has a strong Italian atmosphere and an interesting antique look about it. This part of the city is quite poor and a bit dangerous because it was basically abandoned during the yellow fever epidemic and then inhabited by the poorer, more recent immigrants to the city. However, it does have an interesting story and is home to Caminito, one of the most famous streets in Buenos Aires---all done in technicolor and without a single door opening onto the street, its a great place to wander on a Sunday when musicians are playing and vendors are selling paintings and local craftwork!
