"Se (Cathedral)" Sé de Lisboa Cathedral - Igreja de Santa Maria Maior Tip by leffe3

One of the plainest (Romanesque) cathedrals around, emphasised by the ornateness of surrounding manueline architecture.

There has been a cathedral on this site since 1150, successive earthquakes in the 14th and 17th century along with constant renovations have left little of the original. It's actually the rather plain but imposing facade that is the highlight of the cathedral - the ornate embellishments of the early 18th century having been ripped out and the cathedral being returned to its plain (and rather dull) interior.

Address: Largo de Se
