Porta da Vila means Village Door and it was built circa 1380. It is the main entrance to the old village, which is situated inside the castle's walls. Obidos was once an important port (river) and it was a marriage gift (1282) from King D. Dinis to his wife D. Isabel de Aragão. In the 16th century the port lost its importance, but the village remained lovely until nowadays.
