"Jellyfish Season" Pulau Dayang Warnings Or Dangers Tip by urchinn

Pulau Dayang Warnings and Dangers: 3 reviews and 2 photos

Jellyfish numbers seem to abound during the morning hours around the Dayang Canal during the month of October. Aside from the more common types of jellyfish, I saw several larger, colourful (and potentially deadly) ones like the pink Lion's Mane Jellyfish. However, the dive sites we visited yielded virtually none if compared to those around the jetty.

If diving during these times, always be alert to your surroundings and make sure to swim away from their tentacles. Be sure to check that the dive shop has sufficient resources for treatment should you be accidentally stung with a nasty lash from these placcid-looking animals.

As long as you stay out of their way, jellyfish are harmless and their flighty presence also provide variety to the fish-coral-fish-fish landscape. You might even get to see their natural predators; as veteran divers say...no jellyfish, no turtles.
