Ripley's Pub (previously Zanzibar Bar & Grill): "Quality Food at Low Prices in Long Beach" Long Beach Restaurant Tip by experienceLA

Long Beach Restaurants: 141 reviews and 176 photos

Andre Angles in mid-June 2004 sold the Zanzibar Bar and Grill. It is now known as Ripley's Pub. I have not been in yet under the change of ownership, but I have heard that it is keeping the same format. The following information is what I wrote when it was Zanzibar.

This restaurant has the best hamburgers in Long Beach as they are using Angus beef - the price is a bargain. Also, on the menu are panini sandwiches, and many times there are French dishes that are specially prepared for Zanzibar.

It is hard to believe that this used to be a "dive bar" before being acquired by Andre and Valerie Angles. This is a very informal restaurant where one can relax with affordable beer and wine prices. There is a great wine list with all bottles under $15 and wines by the glass. Also, a good selection of beers on draft and in bottles.

With quality food, low prices, and an informal atmosphere, this is a great place to go as a family, as you will have a good dining experience and not go broke.

Open Monday through Saturday. Closed on Sundays.

Favorite Dish: Again, this is the best burger in Long Beach (and possibly among the best in LA County). In addition to the burgers, they make a good Casesar salad and calamari.
