"Santo Domingo Church" Quito Things to Do Tip by travelmad478

Quito Things to Do: 454 reviews and 1,200 photos

This church, in the southeast part of the old town, is impressive on the outside but badly in need of restorations for the interior. The decorations are not as lavish as in some of Quito's other churches. One interesting feature is the side chapels, the ceilings of which are painted with very Moorish-looking designs. This church was one of the earliest to be constructed in Quito, which would put it right around the time that Spain was most influenced by its Moorish population.
