One of the most unique attraction of Slovakia are wooden houses, manors and churches which luckily survived till today. I was lucky to find wooden, old houses in numerous hidden mountain villages in Zilina region (north-central Slovakia) and in estern parts of Slovakia as well. I especially liked amazing roofs of local wooden houses in Zuberec. Look at wooden shingles - thin and flat tiles fixed in rows to make the roof covering. I noticed that their design was different in various parts of Slovakia.

There is Museum Oravskej Dediny (Museum of Orava village in Brestova close to Zuberec) - open-air museum of 19th Slovak village, one of the most beautiful museums of rural architecture in Europe in my friends' opinion. I... didn't visit it yet (shame on me).
