Pura Besakih (Mother Temple). This is the biggest and holiest temple in all of Bali and it is situated at the top of Mount Agung (I think it's the highest peak in Bali as well). You can't go into the temple but you can walk around the temple compounds which is quite generously spread on top of the mountain. There are very intricate stone carvings at some of the temple entrances.

At the toll booth, I actually managed to bargain for a cheaper entrance fee! Makes you wonder about the degree of corruption going on in the country....

When you reach the base of the temple, do be mindful of anyone coming up to you claiming to be the guardian of the temple. They're ask you for money before allowing you to go up the temple compounds. DON'T entertain them AT ALL! Once you've paid the entrance at the base of the mountain, you shouldn't pay anyone anymore, unless you want to employ a guide to show you around the temple. The guides will usually wear an official badge so you will know who they are.
