Monument to Dr. Thomas John Bernardo.

Favorite thing: While you are in the vicinity of Christ Church, you may find this monument to one of Dublin's greatest philanthropists, Dr. Thomas John Bernardo, (1845-1905)
who devoted his life to the medical health and care of street of children.

Dr. Bernardo raised millions of pounds for the care of homeless, needy and afflicted children, rescuing about 60,000 destitute people. He deserves a larger monument in my opinion, somewhere prominently displayed along O'Connell Street.

There is also a Dr. Thomas Bernardo clinic nearby that seemed to be well used.
