  San Cristóbal en el Albayzín
by DanielF

Granada, the last bastion of the Muslims in Spain, has kept all the magic and charm that have fascinated travelers since very old times, in particular, from the Romantic periode. breathtaking Moorish palaces in Europe, under the shadow of snow-capped mountains; gipsy culture and catholic imaginery are all ingredients of a same succulent exotic cake which remains irresistible even in these times when distances have become almost irrelevant. So irresistible indeed that, on occasions, the excessive number of tourists may ruin the enchantment of the most romantic fellows, but that is a sign of our time.

In any case, the Alhambra is one of the best examples of man made constructions that perfectly merge with nature turning into a gift for the senses: the unbelieable whiteness of the snow on Sierra Nevada is the perfect backdrop for the reddish Nazreen palaces of the Alhambra, so called for the reddish colour of its stones under the setting Andalusian sun.

This is a picture of the Albayzín, a full of Moorish character neighborhood that stands on a hill with the best views of the Alhambra. One of the best looking points is precisely next to this church of Saint Christopher.

Directions: In the shadow of sierra Nevada, Andalusia
