  Shakespeare Birthplace, Stratford Upon Avon
by bpwillet

Best known as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, much of the town is devoted to the throngs of tourists that visit. The Shakespeare properties are all open to the public and you can walk through the very house he grew up in. His wife Anne Hathaway grew up just outside and her cottage is also open for viewing. Be sure to walk around town to the Avon river. Try your luck at punting, or just take a river cruise. Trinity Church is where both Shakespeare and Hathaway were buried. Also you will come across the Harvard House, home of John Harvard's mother, Hall's Croft-home of Shakespeare's daughter and husband, New Place, and you may want to stay ffor one of the latest productions at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Directions: Follow either the A439 or the A4390 from Warwick or Birmingham respectfully.
