San Telmo is a lovely neighborhood; I was lucky that my friend, with whom I stayed, lives in this neighborhood. It is due south and within walking distance of Plaza de Mayo. Small restaurants and shops (esp. antiques) dot this residential neighborhood, giving it a relaxed, quaint feel. Many houses and apartment buildings have beautiful facades that are worth looking up to and checking out (but beware the dog poops below!)

Plaza Dorrego holds a famous antiques fair on Sundays. The plaza is packed with seller's booths, each in turn packed with all kinds of curiosities - bottles, belts, lamps, brass objects.... I didn't buy anything but it was just mesmerizing to look at all that is sold here. Street musicians liven up the atmosphere. There is also a covered produce market a block north.

Address: Plaza Dorrego is at Defensa and Humberto Primo
Directions: An old charmed neighborhood
