"The Siq" Siq Tip by call_me_rhia
Siq, Petra: 56 reviews and 111 photos
The Siq is the natural entrance to Petra, and basically the feature that kept this rose city isolated from the rest of the world for centuries. It's a 1.2 kilometres long winding passageway into rocks of the surrounding mountains: at places it's really narrow - a few metres wide - look up and there's 200 metres of sandstone mountains around you. It takes a while to walk it - and the longer you stay in it, the longer you will build up your Petra's expectations - which is a very healthy thing. On the ground, on the left, you can see a water channel that used to bring water into this mysterious city.
