"Stuff to Bring, and Stuff to Leave at Home" Maldives Packing List Tip by philmayne

Maldives What to Pack: 70 reviews and 45 photos

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Travel light, once on the island you're not going to need much more in the way of clothing than a few T-shirts, shorts and swim-wear.

A pair of flip-flops or sandals are all you'll need for you feet. Most of the time you'll be barefoot anyway!

Sarongs are really useful - even for us macho blokes. Hey, if Beckham can do it......

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: They apparently spray the whole island which might account for the fact that we had no problem with mossies, but you might like to take one of those zapper thingies.

Take plenty of high SPF sunscreen - you're going to need it (hopefully!)

Photo Equipment: do some great waterproof bags which enable you to take your camera/camcorder under water.

Miscellaneous: Take your own snorkelling gear. You can rent it from the islands dive centre for about $6 per item per day, but to be honest, it's not that expensive to buy and I'd rather have my own snorkell than use someone elses!

If you do buy your own gear, get it from a proper dive shop rather than just a high street store. And while you're there, get some 'Ocean Drops' to use on the inside of your mask to stop it from misting up.
