"Curia" Roman Forum - Curia Tip by aliante1981

Roman Forum - Curia, Rome: 8 reviews and 16 photos

The Curia marks the place where one of the most famous institutions of power of the Roman Republic (and, subsequently, Empire) - the Senate - held its meetings. While the ruins seen today date back to the time of the Emperor Diocletian, the square itself was a place for Senate meetings long before year 300 AD. After that Curia was used as a Christian church, before once again becoming a civic, secular building.
