"More on Queens.." Queens Tip by MikeyAndLaura

Queens, New York City: 5 reviews and 6 photos

One of the best party strips in Queens is Bell Blvd. in Bayside-- its really pretty and lined with all different types of restaurants, pubs and boutiques. And if you're renting a car in New York you can drive down Bell Blvd. till you reach the military fort...pull into the parking lot and enjoy the gorgeous view of the bay, the Bronx and the Whitestone Bridge...also it's a popular make-out spot ; )

If you like parks and zoo's you can go visit Flushing-Corona park. On weekends it's packed with soccer games, an ice skating rink, art museum and a great zoo. The surrounding area is predominantly Spanish so if your in the mood for plantains and empanadas you're in luck.

Forest Hills is probably the prettiest part of Queens, it has great shopping and dining, nightlife, and the surrounding homes are totally hooked up. Very wealthy area, but also youthful. Check out the square near Austin St. when you get off the railroad, you'll think you were in some old medieval town square.

I really think Queens is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, not because of the architecture but because of the personalities inhabiting it. It's the real New York experience, much more real than many of the NY tourist traps. Most of it is linked to the subway, except for Northeast Queens, which is probably why NE Queens is a lot more greener and peaceful than the rest. NE Queens also has the coolest mansions in prime locations, so if you're into great architecture and fancier restaurants, go to Malba and Bayside.

According to the Guiness Book of World Records, Queens is the most ethnically diverse place on Earth...you should take advantage of it's unique quality if you're a bit tired of the usual Manhattan agenda.
