"Curry Village - book up early!" Curry Village Tip by MarvintheMartian
Curry Village, Yosemite National Park: 973 reviews and 33 photos
I booked a bed in a tent about 6 weeks before arriving to Yosemite - and I'm very glad I did!
Curry Village is the cheaper of the four main accomodations available in the centre of Yosemite Valley.
You basically hire a permenently errected tent - ranging from a two person to family tent (cabins are also available at extra cost). Basic washing facilities are close to each area.
Given hindsight I would prefer to have stayed at Yosemite Lodge - more going on and with better access to village activities, however also at a much greater cost.
Don't forget when you arrive in Yosemite get hold of one of the Yosemite weekly newspapers - you'll find out what's going on and where.
Unique Qualities: Other facilities include swimming pool, all you can eat breakfast buffet (and probably an evening buffet, but I can't remember!), a couple shops and "fast food" outlets.
The staff are generally helpful and friendly - only one chap let the place down with an impatient approach - however this was not common.
Don' forget to lock up your food in a food locker in the evening to keep bears from stealing it!
If you do take a car into the valley - and you don't need to if you get organised with public transport! - remember to leave no food in it over night, bears do sometimes break into cars!
Comparison: about average
Directions: Curry Village is in the main valley floor area.
The shuttle buses run to and from Curry Village all day until late.
