"Karnak Sound & Light Show -- boring!" Egypt Tourist Trap Tip by cuteynfatal

The Sound and Light show in Luxor is advertised as an extravaganza not-to-be-missed. For $15 US however, you're better off staying on your cruise boat & taking a nap. The spectacle starts with walking around the Karnak ruins which you have already seen during the day. This time, however, you'll see it at sundown. There are booming overhead loudspeaker with voice-actors reading a very boring & history-laden script. Occassionally, lights are shed upon the ruins. About 30 minutes of this walking about in the dark and listening to bad writing, the audience is shepherded into a large scaffolded seating area in front of a pond. The crowd buzzes with anticipation -- "now, the real spectacle begins", so everyone thinks. But NOOOO. Just more reading from the boring script. The reading & lighting (of which there were almost none) put most of the audience to sleep. Skip this "attraction".
