Poland is situated in Central Europe, imbedded between Belarus, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine. To the north is the Baltic Sea, well know for its sandy beaches. The northeast is marked by rolling hills and thousands of small lakes - here you can find thousands of storks in the summer. To the south the land rises to the Sudetes and Carpathian mountains. Here you can find wildlife like the fox, lynx and marmot. About one-quarter of the country is forest. The country has a lot of hidden architectural gems, like medieval castles and old manor houses.

The monetary unit is Polish Zloty.

The official language is Polish. Most people speak German and Russian - younger people know English too.

The capital is Warsawa.
