Sluzes and locks leading to the Koppelpoort
by Pavlik_NL

The "Koppelpoort" was not only a gateway in and out of the city of Amersfoort. In the middle one sees a waterway entering the town and outside one can witness a consitent water level difference. Inside the canal shows several locks and sluzes and now it becomes clear that this gate controls the waterlevel of the canals within the town itself. These level are kept constant by letting water go or in, which especially now-a-days is very important in preserving the monumental status of the town, by preserving the fundaments.
