"Diamonds are forever, jewelry-shops everywhere" Central Station - Astridplein - Diamonds Tip by Pavlik_NL

One jewelryshop after the other for several blocks
by Pavlik_NL

To the South-West of the Keijserlei and the Central Station is a district that has a very special identity. This is the Diamond-district of the town where now-a-days around 55% of raw diamonds in the world end up to be cut to jewelry-fit shapes. A consistent part of this industry is (still) in hands of quite traditional jews and one will meet them in the streets and (jewelry)shops of this neighborhood. With their black cloths and head (chapeau) they stick out the masses that hunt for a beauitiful ring, necklace or bracelet or the even bigger masses that only gaze in the shopwindows to recognise that these prices are not meeting their budget.
